Scan Recognize (“we”, “us”, “the App”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

🔒 Core Privacy Commitment

Scan Recognize is a completely local-first OCR recognition tool. By default, your images, PDF documents, and recognition results are not uploaded to any server.

📱 Data Collection and Use

1. Images and PDF Documents

• Collection Method: You actively select images or PDF files
• Processing Method: Completely processed on your local device
• Storage Location: Stored only on your local device
• Server Upload: Not uploaded by default

2. Recognition Results

• Storage Location: Stored only on your local device
• Server Upload: Not uploaded by default
• Sharing: Only shared when you actively choose to share, sent through system sharing features

3. Usage Statistics (Optional, for app improvement only)

If you enable anonymous usage statistics, we may collect the following information:

• Device Information: Device model, operating system version
• Usage Data: Feature usage frequency, number of pages recognized, recognition success rate
• Performance Data: Recognition speed, memory usage
• We Do NOT Collect: Your image content, PDF content, recognized text content, personally identifiable information

Purpose:

• Improve recognition accuracy
• Optimize app performance
• Fix bugs
• Understand feature usage

You can turn off statistics at any time in Settings.

4. In-App Purchases (IAP)

• Processor: Apple StoreKit
• Data Collection: Only through Apple’s standard purchase process
• What We Collect: Purchase status (stored locally, for feature unlocking)
• Payment Information: Completely handled by Apple, we do not collect any payment information

🔐 Permission Usage

Camera Permission

• Purpose: Take photos of documents or images for OCR recognition
• When Used: Only when you actively tap the “Camera” button
• Data Storage: Photos taken are stored only on your local device
• Upload: Photos are not uploaded

Photo Library Permission

• Purpose:
  1. Select images for OCR recognition
  2. Save recognition results or export files (if needed)
• When Used: Only when you actively select photos or save files
• Data Access: The app only accesses photos you explicitly select
• Upload: Photos from your library are not uploaded

File Access Permission

• Purpose: Select PDF files for OCR recognition
• When Used: Only when you actively select PDF files
• Data Access: The app only accesses files you explicitly select
• Upload: PDF files are not uploaded

📊 Data Storage

Local Storage

• Recognition Results: Stored in app sandbox directory
• Settings Data: Stored in UserDefaults (local)
• Cache Data: Temporary files that can be cleared at any time

Cloud Storage

• Default: We do not use any cloud storage services
• iCloud Sync: Not supported (all data is stored locally only)

🔄 Data Sharing

We Do NOT Share

We do not:

• Share your images, PDFs, or recognition results with third parties
• Use your data for advertising purposes
• Use your data to train AI models (unless you explicitly consent)
• Sell your data

Sharing Only When You Actively Choose

The following occurs only with your explicit action:

• System Sharing: You share recognition results through system sharing features (e.g., AirDrop, email)
• Export Files: You export files to other apps (e.g., Files app, email)

🛡️ Data Security

• Encryption: App data transmission uses HTTPS (if there are network requests)
• Local Processing: All OCR recognition is completed locally, reducing data breach risks
• Minimum Permissions: We only request necessary permissions
